Hello there!! HAPPY Monday :D
How are you doing?! How was your weekend?! Are you ready to tackle another FITasitic week?! :D How are your goals shaping up so far?! Keep in mind that small changes bring on BIG results!! You don't need to overhaul your life to meet your health and fitness goals! Small tweaks add up to major better-body gains, and by doing this, you're still ahead of the game!! Lets have a PRODUCTIVE week!!! Today's post is how to turn injury into opportunity ;) Most of us, at some point, will get injured. Not too long ago, I hurt my shoulder during a workout. I was looking at 2 months of recovery...yikes! A huge nightmare for me, not only did I have clients to train, but my arms were looking sexy (lol) and toned!! During my recovery (and LOADS of ice), I relied on 3 things to keep me fit and sane! Did I say, sane...lol?! If you find yourself injured, the following may help you too :) 1. Find a non-workout way to stay in shape! Before I hurt my shoulder, if I made a smoothie, I considered that semi-cooking...lol! Unfortunately, cooking isn't my biggest strength :D But with more free time (less upper-body workouts for me), I decided to improve my cooking skills! It helped, and before long, I was craving roasted vegetables and healthy grains more often!! Eating better more often definitely energized me! And, it certainly helped me NOT pack on extra pounds during recovery!! 2. Go easier baby and don't give up :D Rather then cry and moan about my arms, I did exercises on my core and lower body! I used every piece of equipment available at the gym to improve the muscles I could work out!! Make sure to clear any activity with your doctor, but don't assume because you're recovering, that you're out ;) 3. Try again! Am I done working out? NO WAY...lol! Yes, I hurt my shoulder during a workout, but it could have happened another way!! You can't always predict injury, though you can do things to try to avoid it! Whether you fell off your bike, hurt yourself doing a burpee, or used too much weight doing a bench press, be sure to ease back in!! You'll have a whole new perspective on what you're doing ;) If you find yourself sidelined, work those non-recovering muscles, and stay ahead of the game! U GOT THIS!! :D Have an EMPOWERING couple of days! Be sure to check back in on Wednesday!!
