HAPPY Wednesday!
How are you doing?! Are you having a HEALTHY week so far? Are you exercising and eating well? Are you doing at least 1 or the other?! If so, good job!! :D I had a great weekend and then I got sick! That is why I didn't post on Monday!! I have to admit that I'm the worst person to be around when I don't feel good! Wouldn't it be awesome if we NEVER got sick...lol?! Today I'm starting to feel better so that's a good thing :D Do you ever wonder exactly what it means to get "high" from exercising?! IT'S WHEN you suddenly feel invincible during a workout! It's triggered by a short-term chemical reaction, but scientists are still trying to fully pin down how it happens. Endorphins used to get all the credit for flipping your happy switch, thanks to the chemical's painkiller effect, but the current thinking is that feel-good hormones norepinephrine, dopamine, and serotonin released during exercise are also at play. "These all affect mood and may increase feelings of happiness," explains Jessica Matthews, an assistant professor of exercise science at San Diego Miramar College. You're not guaranteed to get high from every workout, but your best bet is to do continuous moderate, rhythmic, repetitive movement for 30 minutes or more, as opposed to stop-and-start sets. I personally love the HIGH I get from exercising! BRING IT ON!! Not only do I love the high from exercising, I know how I prefer to look and feel! I know what it takes to make that happen!! I love exercising BUT that doesn't mean that I enjoy working out all hours of the day ;) I love when I've checked off my workout first thing in the morning! If I wait until after dinner to hit the gym (or workout at home), I tend to drag my feet more often...lol! My point is, I'm a morning exerciser, but that isn't for everyone :) In fact, there's a science to picking the perfect time slot for sweating. Whether you're an early bird, a night owl, or somewhere in between determines when your energy is at its peak during the day, according to new research in the journal Current Biology. If you haven't found your sweat time, try to reset your gym clock with the guide below: - If you're an early bird....You'll probably hit your peak performance at noon. - If you're a night owl....You'll probably hit your peak performance at 8:00 p.m. - If you're somewhere in between....You'll probably hit your peak performance at 4:00 p.m. Find your best sweat time AND start working out! NO excuses!! Maybe you'll even get "high" from exercising :D Have a FITastic day! SEE YOU on Friday!! -
